Car thefts are rampant in my hometown (admittedly because locals leave them unlocked). If you want to protect your car from sophisticated car thieves, the best anti-theft system is by Igla. In areas where car thefts are rampant, this is the system that most consistently thwarts theft. But it’s expensive and requires professional installation.

Want a cheap and easy fix? Hide an Apple (AAPL) AirTag in the car. Professional thieves don’t want you to be able to track your vehicle to their shop, so they leave it nearby to cool off for a few days. You can recover it in those days, possibly with some damage to the lock and panels pulled off for hotwiring.

Price softening.

You need to hide it; the thieves will check the center console and glove compartment. Also, AirTags have only about a year of battery life. Put them in AirTag 10-Year battery cases both to extend their life and to hide them. They require lithium batteries to last the whole decade. Net of the tracker, case, and batteries that’s $31.50/car/decade.

TL; DR

Buy this, this, and this and hide one in each car.
